Pillars of salt, parting the sea, the world made in six days, all the animals in a boat, turning loaves to fishes, virgin births, 800 year old men, talking snakes, a magical paradise when you die. To me it sounds like something a child might have difficulty believing, let alone an adult with all his faculties.
There must be some christians who are deeply embarrassed having to defend it, in places like here? That think to themselves “How did I ever manage to end up on this side of the argument?”
and I don’t want to hear any “It’s not a whale, actually the bible says it’s just a big fish” – This small change doesn’t make the story any less preposterous

There is a famous baseball layer who said “It ain’t bragging if you can do it.”

You left out healing the sick, blind, lame and maimed, walking on water, turning water into wine, feeding 5,000 with five loaves and two fishes, calming stormy seas by speaking to them, cursing the fig tree (which was dead the next day), and raising the dead on multiple occasions.

My God is a Mighty God. You will meet him; it would be best to be prepared for that meeting.

I’ve asked this a million times. I’m actually embarrassed for anyone who believes that.

once you believe in God, you don’t find anything ridiculous or impossible to believe. that’s what you don’t understand. its not that we believe in these things, we believe first in God. then we believe in the book that describes Him to us. and in this book are these things.

it all starts with God. best if you asked for some faith.

Luke 9:26
If anyone is ashamed of me and my message, the Son of Man will be ashamed of that person when he returns in his glory and in the glory of the Father and the holy angels.

That sums up those of whom you speak

I don’t think they are at all embarassed! You see, they may laugh at the fairy stories and the Harry Potter stuff, and they look at the Hindu pantheon and the old religions like that of the Egyptians, Greeks and Romans, and think of them as completely unrealistic. But they DO NOT see the similiarities with their own beliefs, which are as fantastic and fanciful as most of those, and even MORE then some of them. The two kinds of thinking can, and do exist, side by side. I know, because I was a strong believer until the age of nineteen. You just DO NOT make any comparisons!
You just accept, and believe.

No, no more embarrassing than scientists saying that an explosion formed the Universe, planets, stars, and everything else. That the Earth just so happened to end up far enough from the sun that it wouldn’t burn up and just close enough that it wouldn’t freeze. That life formed from nothing. I’d rather believe that an Intelligent Designer purposefully crafted everything just so to sustain life than believe in something impossible. See the book, ‘Is There a Creator Who Cares About You?’ Published by Jehovah’s Witnesses.

I am called to proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ. God does not need my help to defend His truth. His truth stands on it’s own infinite merit and value.

Isaiah 40:8 The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God will stand forever.
